Yet Analytics is first company to attain xAPI conformance certification from ADL
BALTIMORE, MD — Yet Analytics has become the first commercial vendor to attain the xAPI LRS conformance certification from the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative (ADL) at the United States Department of Defense.
A data specification built to let applications share data about human performance, the Experience API — xAPI, for short — is a major shift forward in the development of technologies supporting learning and training. As described by ADL, xAPI “enables nearly dynamic tracking of activities from any platform or software system — from traditional Learning Management Systems to mobile devices, simulations, wearables, physical beacons, and more.”
Yet Analytics’ Learning Record Store (LRS) is a special type of datastore specifically designed for xAPI data; it validates and stores xAPI data, making it available on Yet's cloud analytics platform. The significance of the xAPI conformance certification is that it ensures that the data in the LRS has been stored and processed according to exacting standards and is therefore interoperable across any system or application employing the xAPI specification.
As an open source specification, xAPI has been implemented across the globe in a variety of learning and productivity software tools deployed in enterprise, government and higher education settings. Interest in xAPI has skyrocketed in recent months with educational industry events hosted by leading tech companies including Amazon and Autodesk.
“Because enterprise customers require and deserve the peace of mind that certification offers, I am happy to be able to say that Yet’s xAPI datastores are built conformant to ADL’s highest standards,” said Yet Analytics’ CEO, Shelly Blake-Plock.
According to the ADL LRS Specification Testing website: “The LRS Test Suite contains more than a thousand individual tests of LRS functionality. These tests cover every aspect of the xAPI Specification to guarantee interoperability.”
