Federate xAPI

The open source bridge between HLA simulations and xAPI

A Practical Bridge between Two Ecosystems

Federate xAPI is a low-code HLA federate that can be added directly to an existing Runtime Infrastructure (RTI) to begin transforming simulation activity into xAPI statements. Because it operates as an HLA federate, existing federates do not need to be modified in order for the simulation to begin producing xAPI data.

The software enables simulation designers to generate xAPI statements from the state changes of HLA objects while providing filtering capabilities that allow organizations to determine which simulation events should be represented as xAPI. This approach gives teams greater control over the fidelity and scope of the learning and operational data they collect.

Federate xAPI: Bringing Low-Code xAPI Instrumentation to High Level Architecture (HLA) Simulations

Read the Press Release

Baltimore, MD—Yet Analytics today announced the release of Federate xAPI, a new open source software solution that enables High Level Architecture (HLA) simulations to emit Experience API (xAPI) data with minimal integration effort.

Alongside the release, the company is introducing HLA to xAPI Instrumentation Services to help organizations design, implement, and optimize xAPI data strategies for simulation environments.

We provide instrumentation and other data services for distributed sims.

Why Federate xAPI?

Most HLA federations generate enormous amounts of valuable activity data, but that data often remains locked inside simulation environments.

Federate xAPI makes it possible to:

  • Instrument existing HLA federations with minimal integration effort

  • Capture xAPI from HLA object state changes

  • Filter which events become xAPI statements

  • Send simulation data directly to a Learning Record Store (LRS)

  • Align simulation data with IEEE Total Learning Architecture (TLA) components, including competency management frameworks, enterprise learner records, and adaptive instructional systems through xAPI interoperability

  • Make RTI FOM objects available directly for querying in SQL cache

And, if using Apache 2.0 SQL LRS:

  • have the ability to query simulation data via SQL in real-time

  • directly integrate with Power BI, Tableau, Apache Superset, Splunk, and other analytics platforms
